Junior doctors have named Ysbyty Gwynedd's emergency department as the best place to train in Wales for the second year running.
An annual survey by the General Medical Council found more than 90% of doctors were pleased with the learning, experience and quality of clinical supervision at the Bangor hospital.
The GMC surveys - which ranked Ysbyty Gwynedd fifth across the UK - aims to build a comprehensive picture of the experiences of trainee doctors and their trainers.
Dr Nikki Sommers, clinical lead and emergency medicine consultant, said: "We value teamwork, compassion and excellence in our emergency department and it’s wonderful to receive fantastic feedback for a second year running that we are doing things right despite the challenges we are facing."
“We are extremely proud to be ranked top in Wales, and fifth in the UK, for overall trainee satisfaction."
“Teaching and education is at the heart of everything we do here – when you have happy and supported doctors they provide better patient care."
“We have an amazing team here who provide great support to our trainees, from our admin staff, nurses and Consultants who all make sure they feel welcome and supported during their time here.”
Dr Jordan Cazier has been a resident doctor in the emergency department for the past two years - and praised the friendly atmosphere and the support from her senior colleagues.
She said: “I’m not surprised that the department has been ranked top in Wales as the best place to train for the second year running."
“I arrived two years ago, I wasn’t meant to be here this long but I chose to stay as the department is such a great place to work."
“I have a very good work life balance, I get fantastic support from my colleagues with teaching and also emotional support when needed."
"It is also the perfect place to live, we are a very outdoorsy department so I thoroughly enjoy working somewhere where I can enjoy being in nature and the mountains.”
