Two High Street businesses have been served with eviction notices in the latest Renew Bangor operation.

Police, fire, immigration and Trading Standards officers carried out joint visits to ten businesses in the city centre as part of the ongoing crackdown on serious and organised crime.

The eviction notices were served due to breaches of fire regulations and residency conditions.

North Wales Police said the initiative was aimed at tackling key issues raised by the local community, including drug dealing, anti-social behaviour and sexual violence.

Sergeant Liam Carr said: “We continue to work closely with several partners to make Bangor a safe place to live, work and visit."

“Overall, we were pleased to see majority of businesses being run legitimately, safely, and were supportive of the aim to bring a positive change to the High Street."

“Renew Bangor will have the biggest impact if we continue to work together, and I would encourage residents to contact us with any concerns relating to the high street or the wider city.”

In March, 24 people were arrested across the city during the first month of the campaign - with patrols being stepped up in the High Street, Hirael and Maesgeirchen areas.

A dedicated team of six police officers and a sergeant also carried out 56 stop searches - leading to 28 positive results for drugs and stolen property.

Chief Constable Amanda Blakeman of North Wales Police said the crackdown was "already reaping real rewards".

She added: "Initiatives like this have tangible benefits for our communities, and they highlight the value and importance of police visibility in tackling crime."

"Everything we do is centred around making our high streets and neighbourhoods the safest places to visit, work and shop in."
