A man who stole more than £50,000 worth of jewellery from an antiques shop has been jailed.
Iain Butterworth, from Maesgeirchen, pleaded guilty to theft and criminal damage at the Deiniol centre in March 2023.
Caernarfon Crown Court heard Butterworth (50) trespassed into the High Street shopping centre while it was closed.
He used a tool to break the glass doors to the shop and took a large quantity of jewellery, worth around £56,100, in a plastic bag.
Butterworth was identified after the burglary was caught on CCTV.
He was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison.
Following sentencing on Friday, PC Stephanie Owen, who led the investigation, said: "Burglary of any type is an invasive crime, and it can be extremely difficult for victims to come to terms with offenders having entered their homes or businesses to steal property."
"In this instance, Butterworth showed no regard for those business owners or their possessions."
“We are determined to keep putting burglars behind bars and we welcome the custodial sentence handed down by the courts on this occasion."
