Two leisure venues in the region will share nearly £225,000 of funding to improve their facilities.

Anglesey Council has received a Sport Wales grant of nearly £150,000 to modernise the floor on the sports hall at Plas Arthur Leisure Centre in Llangefni.

In Gwynedd, £75,000 will go towards a new artificial grass practice pitch at the multi-use games areas in Glaslyn. The pitch will offer a new community facility that will encourage people of all ages, genders and abilities in a rural area to take part in sporting activities.

Across Wales, 37 projects will share a total of £3.5 million in Welsh Government funding allocated by Sport Wales.

A spokesperson said: "Allocated by Sport Wales, the funding will widen access to sports and physical activity among communities, create more artificial pitches in places that need them most, and also support our most talented athletes to achieve their dreams."

They added: "All grants are subject to certain terms and conditions being met. Some of the projects are already underway, while others are planned for the coming months."
